We’re excited to share that Apache Hop 2.14.0 is now officially available. This release marks the result of two months of focused development across 35 tickets by 7 contributors, and reflects our continued commitment to evolving a powerful open-source data orchestration platform.
While this is a smaller release, it introduces key updates that align with Apache Hop’s new quarterly release cycle, ensuring more frequent, stable enhancements for the data engineering community.
What’s new in Apache Hop 2.14.0?
Quarterly release cadence
Starting with this version, Apache Hop moves to a quarterly release cycle, enabling faster iterations, quicker fixes, and a more consistent delivery of improvements. The next version, 2.15, is scheduled for release in August 2025.
New: Mail Server metadata type
Apache Hop now includes support for a Mail Server metadata type, allowing users to configure and reuse mail server settings for sending and retrieving emails directly within workflows and pipelines.
Supported components include:
- Actions: Mail, Get Mails (POP3/IMAP)
- Transforms: Email messages input, Mail
Integration testing for this feature has been expanded using Apache James as the mail server.
UX and engine improvements
- Metadata fetching for query operations is now faster

The File Explorer perspective now shows color-coded staged files
- The Text File Input transform supports previewing a specific range of lines, not just the beginning of a file
- Deleting an environment now clears associated variables correctly
- Fixes applied to variable inheritance in the Pipeline Executor transform
- Enhancements to Hop Web, including improved error logging
- Elastic Location type: Store execution data in Elasticsearch with easy setup and API key support
